1. How Fast Is it?
  2. Our basic service is 384Kbps/384Kbps (kilo bits per second) guaranteed.  Compare that to regular dial-up! Higher rate plans are available, see our services page for details! note: graphic below does not depict any maximum available speeds.

  1. Are your services available in my area?
  2. If you received marketing materials from JagWireless, our services are available in your area! Fill out our on-line form and we will contact you with more information.  Or check out our coverage map.

  3. How does it all work and how is it so fast?
  4. The technical details:

Our infrastructure is NOT based on satellite communications.

JagWireless utilizes leading edge technologies that operate very similar to a cellular phone network. We take advantage of a high-speed backbone network to provide Internet services to community cells.  Each cell consists of an array of high-speed radios.  Much like a cellular phone network, each customer uses a radio of their own, to communicate to the cell.

The entire network communicates using ultra high frequencies, between 2.4 and 5.8 Giga-Hertz.  What does that all really mean?  It means that JagWireless can securely deliver high-speed Broadband Internet access to you.

In addition, our services are offered in areas where many competing technology services are not available. If you are in a community that is generally left out of technology revolutions, our services are most likely available to you.

  5. What needs to be installed?
  6. Each subscriber requires a "radio modem" and an antenna to communicate with our network. The antenna and radio are installed outside the home on a small antenna mast similar to those used by "DSS" satellite installs.  Our radios are Ethernet based so only a small CAT5e cable needs to be run to an Ethernet termination jack, on the nearest exterior wall to the computer or network concentration point.

  7. Do I need Line of Sight to a distribution tower?
  8. Unfortunately, the technology that we are utilizing, at this point, requires direct line of sight to a distribution tower were our equipment is installed.

We are actively working to overcome this barrier but at this point in time these solutions are cost prohibitive for anything other than business service deployments.

  9. How secure is wireless Internet?
  10. We are very interested in the security of your information and privacy of your actions on the Internet.  Our network consists of a proprietary infrastructure designed specifically for outdoor wireless networks with security in mind.  This is a major difference between us and some competition.

It is important to note though that the Internet is a public wired and wireless network. Sensitive data should only be transmitted with encrypted communications such as SSL (HTTPS), IPSEC or PPTP.

JagWireless does offer IPSEC and PPTP encryption services between subscriber sites and our Network Operations Center, to ensure that all communications across our wireless network are completely encrypted.  However, the remainder of the Internet is still a public network and susceptible to similar security concerns as a wireless network.

  11. What happens if I am not satisfied with your service?
  12. We are completely confident that you will be 100% satisfied with our services. If for some reason there is an issue that cannot be resolved to your satisfaction, we offer an initial 30 day grace-period in which your contract can be canceled.
